Welcome to The 7th Annual Orange Street Oscars
Ever feel like Hollywood has failed you? Like film makers should just knock you over the head and steal your eight bucks before you get into the theater to save you two hours?
Pull up a chair. You’re in the right place.
Before it was cool to bash Jerry Bruckheimer, before it was hip to wonder why there are so many movies with cute dogs, before IFC jacked our idea, Orange Street was here. For what is now our seventh annual awards, the guys from Orange Street have no problem steering you away from “Last Holiday” and pointing straight into the theater showing “Oldboy.”
We’re light one member this year, he may or may not be lost somewhere in China without the use of a DVD player. We can’t be sure. But we’ve still got Big Daddy -- and isn’t that all that really matters?
So here it is, from us to you, the actual best movies, performances and writing jobs of the year. Here’s a hint: There’s a darn good chance you won’t even sniff a television remake in here.
Enjoy -- again.
